Dear Parent or Guardian,
Hi, I am Mrs. Hoyt and I will be your child’s Global Explorations and Media teacher this year. This is a big change for me after being in 2nd grade for 18 years, but I am really looking forward to it. This is my 32st year of teaching and I have taught K-6th grade in the past. I am excited to teach my former students again and can’t wait to meet the new ones.
This year we will be exploring many different countries from all the different continents. We will look at the maps of many places and learn map skills, as well as study the culture of a wide variety of people. We will study the art, language, customs, traditional dress, food, and literature from the sites we will visit. It will be a lot of fun!
In media this year we will be learning everything from how to use the computer, to how to write a paper using Microsoft Word. We will explore many websites to reinforce what the teachers are teaching in their classrooms. I also plan on using Google Earth to tie in what we are learning in Global Explorations with what we are working on in Media.
As I said, I am very excited about the new school year and can’t wait to get started! If you ever have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me by email (darcy.hoyt@springfield.mntm.org) or phone (507-723-4286).
Sincerely,
Mrs. Darcy HoytDiscipline Policy
In my classroom I expect students to follow the Tiger Way- Respectful, Responsible, Safe, which ties into my policy of Work, Respect, and Belong. I expect my students to abide by these rules. If they struggle with these rules they will be warned and their name will be put in my book as a record of their behavior. If they continue to struggle with following the rules we will fill out a fix-it ticket together and come up with a plan for a consequence. If they continue to not follow these rules and choose to live below the line they will have to go and see Mr. Kuehn. They will be rewarded as an individual and a class for good behavior.
