Greetings from Springfield School District 85!
For many years, Springfield School District 85 has built a strong reputation for excellence, innovation, and a commitment to serving students. I am honored to be part of that tradition and to build upon the accomplishments of the educators, administrators, school boards, families, and community members who have helped shape our district.
As we look to the future, our focus remains clear: to provide every student with meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Through thoughtful planning, shared commitment, and accountability, we will continue to strengthen our educational programs and ensure our instructional practices meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
We also recognize that educating children is a shared responsibility. Parents and families are essential partners in student success, and strong communication and collaboration between home and school make a meaningful difference.
Our district is fortunate to have a community that believes in investing in its schools and its children. We are especially grateful for the community’s support of the February 2021 referendum. That investment has allowed us to make significant improvements to our facilities, including transforming the former gymnasium into a state-of-the-art Career and Trades Center, updating our aging HVAC systems, improving building security with secure administrative entrances, and constructing an addition that includes a new gymnasium, locker rooms, and a state-required tornado shelter. Approximately 75% of the tornado shelter project was funded through a FEMA grant, allowing us to maximize the impact of the community’s investment.
These improvements have enhanced our facilities and expanded opportunities for our students. We are proud how these improvements bolster our ability to provide career, workforce, educational, and enrichment opportunities that help prepare students for success both inside and outside the classroom.
We are fortunate to be part of a community that places a high priority on children and believes in the importance of a strong education. I am grateful for the continued partnership and support of our families and community, and I look forward to working together to build upon Springfield School District 85’s tradition of excellence.
