Counselor

Role
Hello, my name is Dylan Boettger. I am the school counselor for elementary, Preschool through 6th grade. I started at Springfield Public School during the 2023-2024 school year. We know that students learn best and feel most connected when they are able to attend school every day that they are able to. I look to support students and their families by reviewing attendance daily and tracking when absences start to become excessive, then I reach out to the student and families to see how we can support them and/or connect them with resources to improve attendance. I also meet with students, whose parents sign them up, or whom are in crisis for counseling services. I look to support students by providing guidance and helping them navigate their feelings and current problems, and help them develop skills so that they can better handle them on their own for next time. Lastly, I will be presenting lessons on self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsibility & decision making to all grades.
About Me
I grew up on a farm just north of Springfield. I graduated from high school in 2011 from Springfield Public School and college in 2014 from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor of Social Science (BSSW). Shortly after, I became a licensed social worker (LSW) in the state of Minnesota. For the past 8 years, I have worked for Kandiyohi County and then the Lower Sioux Indian Community, working with families on addressing concerns, abuse and neglect, and connecting them with services and resources to help support them. In 2020, I moved back to Springfield. I live here with my partner Tabatha and our dog Birdie. In our free time, when we are not staying home, we enjoy taking our dog on walks, going to the lake, and attending both music concerts and MN Wild hockey games. We are also coaches for the elementary boys basketball program.
